“By crafting narratives that examine how the future will shape us, I also help us explore how we can shape the future.”
Where design, technology & story meet, I work: crafting storylines & narrative arcs.
Keynotes
The biggest stories
I’ve written keynotes for dozens of executives, and helped many others ideate on narratives that have been presented to audiences of thousands (and sometimes millions). From CEOs at events like Autodesk University and REAL, to CTOs at AWS re:Invent and E.G.; from CIOs at TEDxPortland, to VPs at re:publica, IDSA, and d.event, I’ve workshopped narratives and written scripts for countless keynotes, delivered to countless people. I’ve even delivered them myself.
Workshops
Putting story to work
As a certified LUMA practitioner, I’m used to framing and solving problems collaboratively and creatively by using workshop activities as an effective tool for creative problem-solving. Beyond this, my experience running storytelling workshops - and my Duarte certification as a trainer - enables me to address both sides of the coin: story and strategy. Whether corporate strategy, brand strategy, or product strategy, I can help ensure your strategy is a story well-told.
Speculative Fiction
Stories of the Future
To ignite imaginations and persuade people of the need to change, science fiction can be equally as impactful as science fact. Speculative fiction helps to explore potential futures so we can better understand how we can work towards preferable futures. To better spur the innovation that plays an important part in shaping our future, we need to better use our imagination. We need better stories, because fiction is the vehicle that can transport us not just to other worlds, but to other futures.
My Stories
Stories About Stories
As a Story Strategist, I am always seeking opportunities to tell stories about my stories. I love speaking about my storytelling methodologies and the value that storytelling and creativity can bring to organizations. Equally, I often tell stories about how speculative fiction and foresight practices like world building can be used to explore the unknown, and how storytelling can help map how the future will shape us, and in doing so help explore how we can shape the future.
